The Black Graduate Student Association at MIT was founded in 1976 with the support of John B. Turner (who was assistant dean at the time). Our mission is to promote the cohesiveness and success of African, African-American and Afro-Caribbean graduate students at MIT.
What We Do
We host different types of events. We do social events—e.g, community lunches, bowling outings, game nights. We also do academic or career development events—e.g, lunch talks, career workshops. View our gallery to see what we’ve done in the past.
We are open to the entire MIT community. If you are interested in joining, or if you would like to contact our leadership, see our contact page.
